The scope of the role is to:

  • Provide advice and support to project personnel and facilitate environmental approvals for the project
  • Continually drive a strong environmental culture and exceptional environmental performance within the project team.
  • Provide support and engagement on environmental approval matters to internal and external stakeholders.

You will mainly be tasked with identifying and coordinating all project environmental approval requirements, including:

  • Review project requirements and highlight environmental approval requirements
  • Identify and manage approval and permit inputs such as utilisation of specialist consultants for field survey
  • Engage with the project team on construction processes and programming to facilitate approval requirements
  • Engage with contractors to ensure environmental approvals are obtained
  • Engage with and audit contractors to ensure environmental approvals and obligations are being met
  • Tracking and compliance of approvals and conditions for the Project
Additionally, you will; review contractor’s environmental management documentation to ensure compliance is achieved with the contract and approval specific requirements, undertake review and audit functions in regards to compliance with project environmental requirements, approval conditions and commitments, review completed environmental records to ensure they verify compliance with specified requirements and advise Package Managers of issues and/or risks to environmental compliance as soon as they arise in order to manage/mitigate effectively. All the time assisting with regulatory documentation, risk management assessments and reviews of environmental management plans for the Project.
 
The position is accountable for assisting the Environmental and Approvals Manager identify, develop and obtain a range of planning and environmental approvals, permits and licences to facilitate project development and ongoing operations. Providing specialist planning and approvals advice and input to processes including education and training programs and strategies. 
 
Candidates should have greater than 10 years’ experience coupled with Tertiary Qualifications (Degree) in environmental science, management and or planning.  Candidates will ideally have experience with approvals and planning for major projects.
