As the Communications Officer based in our Townsville Regional Headquarters, you will be an important part of the Carmichael Project’s communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

Using a mix of public relations and corporate communications experience, you will primarily be tasked with creating professional and engaging content including newsletters, monthly reports, presentations, public messaging, fact sheets, website content and project updates.  You will also provide content for Media Releases relating to the Carmichael Mine and Rail Projects.

From time to time, you will coordinate events including internal conferences and events, expos, project milestones, stakeholder engagement sessions and speaker engagements.  You will liaise with Economic Development Organisations, Government departments and conference organisers for external events, corporate profiles and public engagements.

Working closely with the Corporate Communications Manager, your key relationships will be with Project and Commercial Managers and the Executive team, with visibility across the entire organisation. 

To be considered for this role you must demonstrate exceptional communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work to strict time frames.  You will have the confidence to engage with personnel across all levels of the business and build strong external stakeholder networks.  


You will have a degree in Public Relations or Communications (or extensive experience in a similar role) along with a strong track record of delivering high quality work on multiple projects in a dynamic fast paced environment.

  • Experience in creating and executing communications plans
  • Experience across in both online, print and strategic content creation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong research skills and the ability to transfer information into effective presentations and reports
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, PowerPoint and Adobe InDesign

Knowledge of the mining and resources sector will be highly regarded.
