Court Services Officer
As a Courts Services Officer, you will ensure that administrative processes relevant to the operations of courts, including the delivery of quality services to members of the public, judicial officers and other internal and external clients are performed efficiently.You will be expected to assist junior staff in the performance of their duties, and to undertake the more complex and/or onerous duties associated with day to day processing of matters in the registry or court.
Your role is also responsible for modelling professional and ethical behaviour and be committed to personal development. People who work within the courts environment can be exposed to some harrowing and distressing circumstances.
Exposure to those circumstances can result in people experiencing vicarious trauma.
In this role, via your day-to-day work, as Court Services Officer, you may be exposed to information about offending behaviours, criminal activity and other explicit, distressing or offensive content.
Court Services Queensland has a range of strategies in place to help prevent vicarious trauma and support staff who experience vicarious trauma as a result of their work.
However, personal resilience and individ-ual coping strategies are an important factor.
