Moranbah is a town and locality in the Isaac Region located on the Peak Downs Highway between Mackay and Clermont. It is a coal mining town with both a permanent and a large fly-in fly-out population. Moranbah was established in 1969. Moranbah State School opened on 1 January 1971.

Moranbah State School is a band 9 school with current enrolment of 630. The successful candidate will play a vital role in leadership of teaching and learning of the Australian Curriculum

The successful candidate will play a vital role in in leading a school experiencing student growth and as a key partner in an established Early Years network. You will also focus on opportunities for innovation - STEM.

As the Principal you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.

  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Active participants in life long learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.

  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
  • Manage resources to achieve goals.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

  • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. Information on registration requirements is available at
