The Subacute Care Unit is a stand-alone facility within the Townsville Hospital Health Service and is supported by the Medical Service Group. This facility provides service delivery to 43 patients and provides care for two patient groups.

The unit provides comprehensive geriatric assessment, management and evaluation of the frail elderly population with a number of functional syndromes. The service is targeted to those over 70 years or over 55 in indigenous populations. The second group of patients accessing and receiving care in SACU will be slow stream rehabilitation patients aged 18 years or over that meet the criteria for admission to the service and who will benefit from the model of care.

Comprising salary range of $46.51 to $49.81 p.h. (Nurse Grade 6 Band 1), 17.5% leave loading, 12.5 % employer contribution to superannuation. Mandatory Requirements

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
  • Highly Desirable: Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the position or working towards a relevant qualification.
  • Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
